A Telangana RTC employee dies after attending Sakala Janabheri at Saroornagar

Hyderabad: A TSRTC driver working with Karimnagar depot died after attending the TSRTC Sakala Janabheri at Saroornagar in Hyderabad on Wednesday. Nangunuri Babu collapsed on the ground after he left the programme venue, and was rushed to a nearby private hospital. However, he was declared brought dead.

Babu, hailing from Karimnagar, was actively taking part in the RTC strike since October 5. On Wednesday, the JAC organised a massive gathering at Saroornagar. Though police denied permission to the meeting, employees approached the Telangana High Court, and the court permitted them.

Accordingly, thousands of employees from across the state and members of several political parties also gathered for the meeting. During the meeting, Babu raised slogans and cheered other employees. However, immediately after the meeting, he collapsed.

Employees alleged that the callous attitude of the state government and the management in addressing their issues and delaying payment of their salaries had taken another employee's life. They demanded the government to act immediately on the subject. Meanwhile, as soon as the news of the death spread, the police mobilised additional forces to prevent any outrage from employees.
