ABVP members create chaos at Telangana assembly gates

Hyderabad: Tension gripped Telangana State Legislative Assembly premises as scores of ABVP activists marched and attempted to lay seize of the building.

Police manning the premises, who were caught unawares, resorted to mild force to control them. However, some of the protestors managed to climb the compound wall and jumped into the premises. The situation turned chaotic when a police officer used excessive force on the protestors and slapped them.

The activists blamed Additional DCP K Ganga Reddy for highhanded behaviour against them. They said that they will take up the issue with higher officials and also demanded action against him.

Meanwhile, Karimnagar MP, Bandi Sanjay, condemned the police action on the protestors and blamed the Chief Minister for such incidents.

ABVP activists were protesting against issues concerning students and unemployment.

Around 11.30 am, they marched towards the Assembly main entrance from different routes. Police, who were not prepared for such a situation, were caught on a sticky wicket, particularly when some members broke through the tight security cover and police cordon to enter the premises.

While many activists were injured, some of them became unconscious. Additional forces were called in and the protestors were bundled away in vehicles to avoid further trouble.
