ACB catches GHMC officer and two media persons for accepting bribes

Hyderabad: The sleuths of Anti-Corruption Bureau ( ACB) arrested GHMC’s town planning officer Siddhantam Madhan Raj, besides two others for demanding a bribe of Rs 2 lakh.

The trio fell in an ACB trap laid on November 15. The officers caught the perpetrators red-handed while accepting a bribe from the complainant Keshav Reddy. The bribe was for official favour, not to take action against the illegal shed installed at a private building in Jubilee Hills.

ACB officials confiscated the bribe amount and arrested Akula Kiran Goud, a reporter with Andhra Prabha, a Telugu daily, and Sopalla Srinivas, working as a reporter in Mana Telangana.

According to ACB, the prime accused, Madhan Raj, took the help of the two reporters accused in the case, to extort a bribe from the complainant. The accused were presented before a Special Judge for ACB cases in Hyderabad. The case is currently under investigation.
