Hyderabad: Telangana home minister Mohd Mahmood Ali on Sunday said the state government has taken the rape of Dalit minor girl at Chaderghat seriously and directed the police department to expedite investigation in the case. The incident occurred on May 6, 2020.

Speaking to mediapersons in Hyderabad, Ali said the case will be put to trial in fast track court on the lines of the sensational rape and murder cases of a Warangal tribal woman Samatha in Adilabad and veterinarian Disha at Shadnagar.

He said that the accused will not be spared. He was booked under various sections of the law and also arrested. The investigation will be completed soon. “We will ensure the strongest punishment to him. We will seek hanging (death penalty) to the accused,” the home minister said.

The girl was allegedly raped by a youngster Mohd Shakeel in the early hours of Wednesday and he was caught red handed after the girl raised an alarm. He was arrested under rape, POCSO Act, SC & ST Atrocities Act.
