Actor Nithiin to marry girlfriend Shalini Kandukuri on 26 July

Hyderabad: Actor Nithiin is engaged to his long-time girlfriend Shalini Kandukuri. He officially announced the engagement and shared a photo of the two exchanging rings on his social media accounts. Meanwhile, the couple has also decided to drop their plans for a destination wedding and instead get married in the city in view of the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.

The couple, who have been in a relationship for four years, had planned a destination wedding in April at Dubai's Palazzo Versace. However, the COVID-19 pandemic ruined their plans. Now, the wedding has been rescheduled and is set to take place on 26 July at Hyderabad's Faluknama Palace.

"Yes, there were plans for a destination wedding in Dubai but the coronavirus pandemic has left us with no option but to alter our plans. We had initially thought of a big, fat wedding but given the circumstances, we have decided to go ahead with a more private affair. Only close family and friends will be invited,” said Sudhakar Reddy, the actor's father.

During a recent interview, Nithiin had revealed how he had proposed to Shalini. “When it was time to propose to her, I wanted it to be zara hatke. I didn’t want to do the usual drill of going down on one knee and popping the question or shower her with roses. Instead, I decided to stand on one leg and propose to her,” he laughed and added “I just wanted to do something different, funny, and memorable. I guess it really paid off. Not only did it make her laugh, she immediately said, ‘yes’.”
