After inspector, top cop suspends SI in Chintamaneni Prabhakar case

Eluru: One more Police officer was suspended for alleged dereliction in performing his duty in connection with the case filed against the former TDP MLA Chintamaneni Prabhakar. Eluru Range DIG AS Khan on Saturday suspended the Sub-Inspector of Police (SI) Kranti Priya for her role in protecting Chintamaneni Prabhakar. SI Kranti Priya was suspended for removing his name in the case related to the illegal transportation of clay from Polavaram Right Canal project. Kranti Priya, who is Sub-Inspector of Pedavegi police station at the time of the case, failed to investigate the case properly and protected Kranti Priya. It may be recalled that few days ago, the Inspector of Eluru Murthy was suspended for negligence in the case related to the former MLA.

Navdeep Singh Grewal, Superintendent of Police in West Godavari, said 49 criminal cases are filed against Chintamaneni Prabhakar. The Police are investiaging into all these cases during the past two decades. Police have expedited investigation into all the old cases against the former MLA, he said. Recently the former MLA threatened Cheraku Joseph, and the latter complained against the former MLA on August 4. The court convicted Chintamaneni in a criminal case. The investigation in the old cases would also be reviewed. If any dereliction in the investigation was found, stern action would be initiated against the investigation officer, he said.

Special teams have been formed to nab Chintamaneni Prabhakar. However, the TDP leaders say that YSRC leaders behind the cases filed against Chintamaneni Prabhakar. The TDP will launch a series of agitations against the Police attitude, they added.
