Hyderabad: Basking in the success of his recent flick Mission Mangal, Bollywood star Akshay Kumar has announced another gift to his fans on his birthday on Monday. The movie titled Prithviraj will be directed by Dr Chandraprakash Dwivedi who had earlier made Pinjar, Mohalla Assi and television show Chanakya. Aditya Chopra's Yash Raj Films will bankroll the movie. Taking to his Twitter handle, the star wrote, "Elated to share about my first historical film on my birthday! Humbled to have the opportunity to play a hero I look up to for his valour and values - Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan in one of my biggest films Prithviraj." The film is scheduled for release on Diwali 2020.
The teaser begins with the sword lifted from the ragging flames as the armoured soldiers of cavalry are seen surging ahead in the battle field. The background score and visuals are top-notch giving a glimpse of the valour of the ancient king. The story is about the Rajput king Sri Maharaj Prithviraj Chouhan who ruled north-west India during the 12 century.
Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar's next Housefull 4 and Good News are scheduled for release later this year. He is also doing a role in cop drama Sooryavanshi that is being produced by Rohit Shetty. He will also appear in Raghava Lawrence's Laxmmi Bomb.
