Hyderabad: An alcoholic teen brutally killed his 65-year-old grandmother after she refused to give him her pension amount at Moinabad on Hyderabad outskirts.
Identified as Kavali Venkatamma, she was killed by her 16-year-old grandson.
Moinabad police inspector Janaiah told media persons that the boy killed her by strangulation using a waist belt. A murder case has been registered against him.
Venkatamma has been residing at Sriram Nagar of Moinabad. She had a son and three daughters. But after her son died in an accident a decade ago, her daughter in law and grandchildren were residing with her.
Her second grandson, who is a school dropout and addicted to alcohol, often took money from her. He was aware that she was drawing Aasara pension distributed by the state government.
On Sunday night, he returned home and demanded money from Venkatamma. As she refused, he killed her and fled from the spot. On Monday, neighbors informed the police which rushed to the spot and started the investigation.
