Alia to pick new lingo to talk like Kathis for Gangubai

Hyderabad: Alia Bhatt needs no introduction. She is definitely one of the finesse actors among the youngsters in the industry. She has always given her best in films like Dear Zindagi, Highway, Kapoor and Sons, Raazi and many more. Her recent flick Kalank has been a disaster at the box office and it is pretty sure that the actor has chosen to be a part of a script that doesn’t work at the box office.

It's no secret that she has joined hands with Sanjay Leela Bhansali for her next film. For quite some time, Alia has been wanting to work with Sanjay as she is a huge fan of his work. Initially, when she was roped in to work with him, Salman was also a part of it. But due to creative differences with Sanjay, Salman walked out of the project.

Now Alia and Sanjay have teamed up to make Gangubai Kathiawadi. The film will go on floors soon and release in September next year. Alia will be seen playing the title role and she is excited to have paired with the director.

To make sure she gives her best for the role, the actor will learn a new lingo, which is spoken by the Kathis in Saurashtra.

Gangubai Kathiawadi is a Gujarati businesswoman and her life history was featured in one of the chapters of Mafia Queens of Mumbai, a novel by Husain Zaidi. Her life had impressed Sanjay and he first wanted to make this film with Priyanka Chopra and call it Heera Mandi.

Gangubai has Hrithik Roshan in the role of Haji Mastan, a popular don back then. Alia has Sadak 2, which is being directed by her father Mahesh Bhatt, and Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Brahmastra in her kitty and she is already busy working on them.
