Amaravati land scam: SIT arrests CRDA deputy collector Madhuri from Vijayawada

Vijayawada, June 3: Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Wednesday arrested deputy collector of Capital Region Development Area (CRDA) for her alleged role in illegal registration of land in favor of Gopalakrishna in 2016.

It may be recalled that Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy led YSR Congress government had formed a 10-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to conduct a comprehensive inquiry into alleged irregularities, particularly land deals in the Amaravati capital region during the previous Telugu Desam Party (TDP) regime.

The SIT has found that Madhuri allegedly caused a loss of Rs 6 crore to the government by registering 3.2 acres of land in Amaravati region in favor of Gopalakrishna.

The SIT observed that the land at Tulluru Mandal belonged to government but Madhuri transferred and registered it in the name of Gopalakrishna.

A few days ago, Gopalakrishna was arrested by the SIT. On Wednesday, SIT officials arrested Madhuri from her residence at Vijayawada.

Madhuri was produced before the Court which remanded her to custody till June 12
