Amazon Employee V Sivaram, dies after alleged attack by former colleague

Hyderabad: Amazon India employee V Sivaram, who was allegedly attacked by his former colleague on December 5, succumbed to his injuries in the wee hours of December 29. Sivaram was undergoing treatment at Yashoda Hospital in Secunderabad when he succumbed to his injuries and died at 4.30 am on Sunday.

Sivaram and Muneer were colleagues, who worked as Seller Support Associates (SSA) at the e-commerce giant’s Tolichowki office. A few days before December 5, the company terminated Muneer, and the latter believed that it was because of Sivaram. Holding a grudge, Muneer attacked Sivaram near the latter’s home on December 5.

Sivaram received a severe head injury and was since then undergoing treatment. After the incident, Amazon representatives met Sivaram’s family and assured all possible help. They even promised to take care of medical expenses.

Sivaram’s father Shankaraiah had earlier alleged that the duo had argued over an issue of product delivery, leading to Muneer’s termination and the subsequent attack. He also told media that the company had not kept its promise, forcing them to spend Rs 15 lakh for the treatment.

Golconda police then registered a case on the incident and arrested Muneer, but he came out on bail. Sivaram’s family blames the police for inadequate investigation and not opposing Muneer’s bail. They also alleged that Muneer had threatened them for filing the complaint. Now that Sivaram has succumbed to his injuries, the police may change their approach. Further investigation is underway, police officials said.
