Amid lockdown, 24-YO cycles from Lingampally to Vijayawada to meet family

Hyderabad: Worried about his family back home, a 24-year-old youth has decided to pedal all the way from Lingampally to Vijayawada to meet his dear ones.

Working as a supervisor in a private company, Srinu started his bicycle expedition after the government announced lockdown and banned public transport.

"My mother is worried about me in Vijayawada . She even cried when I Iast spoke to her. I am cycling because I don't want to trouble anyone on the roads especially the police”, he said.

Since the journey is long, Srinu has devised a proper strategy to overcome fatigue and save energy.

“Whenever I get tired, I take a break. I will not travel during the night. I will stay in a hotel for a night to conserve energy. I started last night but the police officials told me that I will be stopped. So I went back home”, he said

Pedaling at a speed of 15 kilometers per hour, he started from Tellapur on his bicycle to ensure he reaches his destination safely. “En route is my sister’s home at Jaggayyapeta. So I will have a night halt there before I will start my journey to Vijayawada the next morning," he said.

Srinu has taken all precautions to keep coronavirus at bay. Wearing a mask and washing his hands frequently, he is trying hard to ensure that all protocols are followed. Wishing you a Happy Journey, Srinu. Stay safe!
