Amid lockdown, estranged husband attempts to kidnap wife in Hyd

Hyderabad : Lockdown notwithstanding, an estranged husband allegedly attacked father-in-law and tried to kidnap his wife at Humayun Nagar in Hyderabad.
The incident was caught on CCTVs. The locality is very close to Asif Nagar, which is among the COVID 19 containment areas.
According to sources, police have detained the four accused. Police said the incident occurred on Thursday when the woman was going out with her father. As she stepped out of her apartment, the accused attacked her father with a beer bottle and huddled her into a car.
Inquiries revealed that the accused had planned to kidnap the woman over a family dispute. The woman’s family had already complained to the police and even submitted a representation to the commissioner.
The family had told the police that Mohd Shareef Shaheed had been harassing them over a family dispute. Police sources said Shareef was the estranged husband of the woman. Both were living separately.
Sources said Shaheed attempted to kidnap the woman to scare the family. Further investigation is underway, the police said.
