Amid pandemic, flood of jobs for NIT-Warangal students; 14 bag Rs 43.33 LPA offer

Hyderabad: Over 732 final-year students of National Institute of Technology - Warangal received full-time employment offers . Around 14 final-year students received a cost to company (CTC) of Rs. 43.33 lakhs per annum (LPA), the highest pay package.

Over 80 per cent of under-graduate (UG) students have been hired by 177 companies and the average compensation has increased to Rs. 12.15 LPA from Rs. 9.93 LPA from the last academic year. The placement process which started in August 2019 has seen Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) and the Indian Telephone Industries (ITI) visiting the campus to recruit six and 16 students, respectively, for the first time.

According to the NIT -Warangal management, Thirty-three students received offers from the government enterprises (GOI) like ISRO and ITI and public sector units (PSU) like the Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL). Also, 551 UG students and 181 postgraduate students received full-time employment offers, including pre-placement offers (PPOs). The recruitment process will continue until 31 July, they said.

The director of NIT Warangal, Ramana Rao, told NewsMeter, "The COVID-19 pandemic has not affected the placements. However, some companies have come forward to offer online internships."

Warangal NIT Placement

While, about 177 companies participated in the campus placement drive at NIT Warangal to hire students for full-time employment and offer internships. A total of 289 students received job offers with an annual salary of over Rs. 10 LPA. The top 10 recruiters offering the highest CTC have rolled out 43 offers with an average CTC of Rs. 35.45 LPA as pay package. The top 10 recruiters offering the maximum number of job offers per recruiter have extended 175 offers with an average CTC of Rs. 13.47 LPA as pay package.

B-tech students received a flood of offers

About 110 B.Tech students from computer science and engineering department have received offers from MNCs like Microsoft India, DE Shaw Group, Arcesium India Private Limited, with an average Cost to Company (CTC) of Rs. 21.9 LPA. The highest CTC of Rs. 43.33 LPA has been offered to 12 students.

And 101 B.Tech students from the department of electronics and communication engineering bagged offers from employers like Service Now, Oracle, Black Buck, Texas Instruments, Qualcomm, Morgan Stanley, Samsung R&D with an average CTC of Rs. 13.9 LPA. The highest CTC of Rs. 26 LPA has been offered to one student.

  1. About 97 B.Tech students from the electrical and electronics engineering department have received offers with an average CTC of Rs. 10.17 LPA. The highest CTC of Rs. 43.33 LPA has been offered to two students by a leading recruiter.
  2. About 87 B.Tech students from the department of mechanical engineering have received offers from recruiters like ITC Limited, Oracle, GAIL, with an average CTC of Rs. 8.6 LPA. The highest CTC of Rs. 25 LPA was offered to one student by a leading recruiter.
  3. 62 B.Tech students from the department of chemical engineering received offers from recruiters like Oracle, Deloitte India, 63Ideas Infolabs Private Limited, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, and Novartis Healthcare with an average CTC of Rs. 7.98 LPA. The highest CTC of Rs. 22 LPA has been made to one student by a reputed recruiter in the field.

According to the Centre for Career Planning and Development at NIT Warangal, the cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of the students was one of the most important factors for shortlisting them for the selection process and a majority of the students who received highest CTC from well-known MNCs are those with top CGPA in their respective branches.
