Thousands of visitors have been thronging Vanajangi Hill Station to witness the Ocean of Clouds (Megha Samudram).
This is the second tourist destination after Lammasingi tribal hamlet under Chintapalle Mandal, which is attracting a large number of visitors.
While Lammasingi is being touted as Andhra Pradesh's Kashmir for its cool and foggy weather conditions, Vanajangi Hills is attracting visitors for sunrises from the midst of dense wispy clouds. The morning is cool and crisp, and every sense is heightened as one witnesses the dreamlike cascade of clouds billow like a river.
Located at an altitude of 3,400 feet, Vanajangi Hills is home to one of the most beautiful sunrises. They get their name from a village near Paderu in the Eastern Ghats of Andhra Pradesh. Vanjangi is the latest hill station in India to have surfaced and is quite popular among mountain lovers.
K Siva Kumar, who along with his friends recently visited Vanajangi Hills, said that one has to reach the Hills at 5 am to witness the scenic beauty. "The sun rises over the cleaving of two hills and find abode of clouds which float like sea waves. Soon, the mountain tops reveal themselves, leaving you to behold the canvas of a beautiful morning," he said.
Vanjangi hills shot to fame a few weeks ago after some nature lovers and trekkers found the scenic beauty and shared their experiences on social networking platforms.
The hill haven has already earned the moniker Megha Samudram or the Ocean of Clouds. And the naming seems quite appropriate, too since tourists have never witnessed an assemblage of clouds at such an altitude. The golden light tinting the cloud cover as it floats endlessly is actually a sight not to be missed.
The locals in and around the village were surprised after witnessing a large number of vehicles towards their village.
It takes about a 3 to 4-hour drive from Vizag city to reach the vantage point as it is around 100km from the city and 6 km from Paderu. A five-kilometer walk through the forest in the wee hours of the morning must be done in order to reach the hilltop in time for sunrise.
Locals have appealed to the government authorities to create some facilities for the tourists and ensure the cleanliness of the place
