Ancient chariot at Antarvedi temple catches fire in East Godavari

East Godavari: The ancient (more than six-decade-old) chariot of Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple at Antarvedi in East Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh, caught fire in the early hours of Sunday. However, there were no casualties or injuries reported in the incident.

The police and fire service personnel rushed to the spot and they are investigating the reasons behind the fire mishap.

The police said that a chariot of the Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple in Antarvedi village caught fire around 1 am. The fire was extinguished by 3 am.

Sakhinetipalli SI Ch. Gopalakrishna said the fire confined to the chariot only and there was no other property loss and that no one was injured as the chariot shed was almost 200 mt away from the temple, he added.

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. The police are examining the CCTV footage to ascertain the reasons for the source of fire.
