Andhra on edge after 14 COVID deaths, cases cross 525 mark

Vijayawada: Three COVID-19 deaths, two men and a woman, were reported in Andhra Pradesh on 15 April, taking the death toll in AP to 14. The number of positive cases in the state reached 525 after 23 new cases were reported on Wednesday.

Guntur district has reported the highest number of cases, 122, followed by Kurnool district which has reported 110 cases, and Nellore, 58 cases. Guntur and Krishna districts reported four deaths each, while Anantapur, Kurnool, and Nellore districts reported two deaths each.

With 14 deaths and 20 patients who have recovered and have been discharged from hospitals, the number of active case in the state stands at 491. The two north coastal districts of Srikakulam and Vizianagaram continue to maintain a clean slate with zero cases.

A 56-year-old man from Nellore city who had returned from Delhi recently was admitted to the Government General Hospital (GGH) on 10 April. He died while undergoing treatment on 11 April. He tested positive for Corona virus after his death.

Meanwhile, in Kurnool, a 76-year-old physician was admitted to the Government General Hospital with COVID-19 symptoms on 13 April. He died the next day and tested positive. He was diabetic and also suffered from hypertension.

A 74-year-old woman from the Gandhinagar area in Vijayawada city of Krishna district was admitted to the Guntur GGH on 11 April. She died on 12 April and tested Corona-positive after her death. She was also diabetic and suffered from asthma.
