Andhra Pradesh reports second positive case of COVID-19, man travelled to London

Prakasam: Andhra Pradesh on Thursday reported the second positive case for Coronavirus. A 25-year-old youth of Ongole Town, who returned from London a few days ago, has tested positive for the virus.

Prakasam district administration said the student travelled to Ongole from London via Delhi and Hyderabad Airports. He was kept in the isolation ward at RIMS Hospital in Ongole Town. The condition of the patient is said to be stable.

Andhra Pradesh has reported its first confirmed case of the Covid-19 in Nellore City on March 12 when a student, who had returned from Italy was tested positive.

The patient, who arrived in Nellore via Delhi and Chennai almost recovered and will be discharged from the hospital on March 29.

Medical and Health and Family Welfare department officials said that so far 109 samples were tested in Andhra Pradesh. Two samples have come back positive while 94 samples were negative. The test results of the remaining 13 are pending.

Prakasam District Collector directed the Medical and Health officials to trace the contact persons of the infected person and shift them to an isolation ward in RIMS Hospital. He also directed to take all measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus in Ongole.
