Andhra records single-day high of 304 Covid-19 cases, 2 die of infection

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh on Monday reported an all- time single-day high of 304 new Covid-19 cases while two people died, taking the tally to 6,456 and death toll to 86.

Kurnool and Anantapur districts reported one death each on Monday.

The officials of the medical and family welfare department said that a total of 15,173 samples in the state were tested in the last 24 hours and of them, 246 people tested positive.

The officials said that another 52 people who returned to parts of Andhra Pradesh from other states and six foreign returnees tested positive, taking the cumulative total of fresh cases in the state to 304 on Monday, the biggest single-day spike yet.

As many as 69 patients, including 22 people who returned from other states, recovered from the infection and were discharged from the hospital in the last 24 hours. The total number of those who recovered from the Coronavirus in the state now stands at 3,385, including 592 people from other states and 23 foreign returnees.

The total number of active Covid-19 cases in the state stands at 2,985 (2,231 from Andhra Pradesh, 567 and 187 from other states and foreign returnees respectively).

On the Covid-19 toll front, Kurnool district has reported 30Covid-19 deaths followed by Krishna district with 27 deaths and Guntur district with 9 deaths.

While Anantapur reported six deaths due to the virus, East Godavari district reported 5 deaths. Four deaths each from Nellore and Chittoor districts were reported. Vizag district reported only one Covid-19 death. So far, two districts, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam in north Andhra, Prakasam, West Godavari and Kadapa districts haven’t reported any Covid-19 deaths so far.
