AP ACB unearth Rs 30 crore from East Godavari engineer

East Godavari: Anti-Corruption Bureau sleuths on Friday found illegal assets worth more than Rs 30 crore belonging to Nallam Krishna Rao. The latter is a Superintendent Engineer of Dowleswaram irrigation circle from the East Godavari district.

ACB sleuths raided Krishna Rao and his relatives’ houses in Rajahmundry, Kakinada, Bhimavaram, Palakollu, Tadepalligudem of Godavari, Anakapalli in Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad. The officials arrested Krishna Rao for possessing disproportionate assets (movable and immovable) over and above his known sources of income.

The seized illegal assets, including cash, gold, land holdings, houses and a few others, are estimated to be around Rs 3.35 crore as per registration value (document value). However, it would easily be more than Rs 30 crore as per market rates. The seized documents about Rao’s illegal assets include a flat at Kakinada, house site at Rajanagaram, and an apartment at Hyderabad’s Miyapur in his name.

ACB officials also found three house sites, 14 acres of farmland at Bommahalli in Karnataka, four acres of farmland in East Godavari, and two houses in Nallam Krupamani’s name. The latter is Krishna Rao’s wife. The ownership of properties under the family’s name doesn’t stop there. Rao’s children Rohit and Snehitha also have properties registered in their name. Officials found a flat in Kakinada under Rohit’s name, and Snehitha owns a house site and farmland in East Godavari.

Apart from immovable assets, ACB sleuths seized gold ornaments weighing about 332 grammes worth Rs 6.4 lakh, 622 grammes of silver ornaments, and Rs 7.5 lakh-worth household articles. Besides, they discovered Rs 1.94 lakh in liquid cash, a bank balance and fixed deposits worth over Rs 56 lakh, and a motorbike.
