AP crosses 13,000 mark Covid-19 positive cases; death toll jumps to 169

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh on Sunday reported the biggest single-day spike of 813 new Covid-19 cases and highest single-day Covid-19 deaths of 12. The Covid-19 case load has gone up to 13,098 and the death toll increased to 169 in the state.

A total of 25, 778 samples were tested between Saturday 9 am to Sunday 9 am in which 755 persons from the state, 50 from other states (returnees), and 8 foreign returnees tested positive.

As of Sunday, a total of 8,41,860 samples were tested so far in the state of which 13,098 tested positive.

Kurnool district reported six deaths while Krishna district registered five deaths and West Godavari district recorded one death due to the virus.

On Sunday, Kadapa district recorded the highest number of Covid-19 cases with 111 followed by Kurnool district with 103 cases, Guntur district 90 cases and Chittoor 82 cases.

Kurnool district (the Covid-19 hotspot in the state) continues to be on the top of the chart with 1,787 Covid-19 cases followed by Anantapur district with 1,371 cases, Krishna district with 1, 331 cases, Guntur district 1,193 cases while East Godavari crossed the 1,000 mark by registering 1,002 cases with 57 fresh Covid-19 cases adding to the existing number.

A total of 428 patients (including 401 from state and 27 returnees) recovered from the virus and were discharged from the hospitals in the state in the last 24 hours. The active cases in the state now stand at 7,021 while the total number of people who got discharged from hospitals is 5,908.

On the death toll front, Krishna and Kurnool districts are on the top in the chart with 58 deaths each while Guntur district has occupied second place with 17 deaths.

While Anantapur and East Godavari districts reported 7 deaths each, six deaths were recorded in Chittoor district. Nellore district reported four deaths.

Vizag and West Godavari districts eported three deaths each while two deaths each were reported from Prakasam and Srikakulam districts.

Kadapa and Vizianagaram districts reported one death each.
