AP Governor Biswa Bhushan awarded honorary degree

Hyderabad: The Governor of Andhra Pradesh, Biswa Bhushan Harichandan, has been awarded with the Degree of Doctor of Honoris Causa. Desh Bhagat University of Mandi Gobindgarh in Punjab has awarded Biswa Bhushan at their 6th convocation of the university by University Chancellor, Dr. Zora Singh on Friday.

Bjswa Bhushan Harichandan was the Chief guest at the convocation of the university and also visited Fatehgarh Saheb Gurudwara near Chandigarh and offered prayers at the Gurudwara.

The degree was awarded by the university in recognition of his exceptional contribution to the nation under the faculty of social sciences. The citation described Sri Harichandan as a renowned writer in Odiya and an eminent scholar who authored many books and has been constantly engaged in creating awareness about the constitutional rights of the people.

The citation also stated about Harichandan starting his career as a lawyer in 1961 and his contribution to the development of Odisha having been elected as a Member of the Assembly for five times, three times consecutively, apart from being a cabinet minister in 2004.
