AP: May begins with 2 COVID deaths, 60 fresh cases; 1468 infected

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh reported two more Covid-19 deaths after a gap of five days, on Friday, taking the toll to 33 in the state. The coronavirus (Covid-19) positive cases continued to surge in Andhra Pradesh, with 60 fresh cases being reported on Friday, taking the tally to 1,463 in the state.

As many as 82 Covid-19 patients were discharged from various hospitals in Andhra Pradesh in the last 24 hours, a positive development in the state which had been witnessing an exponential rise in the number of coronavirus patients for last one week.

In another positive development, Krishna district which has been reporting more Covid-19 cases for the last one week did not report at least a single case in the last 24 hours.

Kurnool and Nellore districts reported one Covid-19 death each. The district registered 10 Covid-19 deaths followed by Guntur and Krishna districts which recorded 8 deaths each. The virus claimed four lives in Anantapur and three in Nellore. Since Friday morning, the six Covid-19 affected districts in the state didn't report any fresh cases.

Of the 60 new Covid-19 cases recorded in the last 24 hours in the state, Kurnool district reported 25 cases and Guntur district 19 cases. Anantapur and Kadapa districts reported 6 cases each and two cases were registered in Vizag city.

Vizianagaram district in North AP continued to remain the only corona-free district in the state with zero cases.A total of 7,902 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours in the state of which 60 turned positive. Over 82 persons were discharged on Friday, taking the total number of patients discharged to 403, leaving 1,027 active cases.

With 411 cases, Kurnool continued to be the on the top of the list in the state followed by Guntur with 306 cases and Krishna district with 246 cases.
