AP reports all-time single-day high of 294 Covid-19 cases on Sunday

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh on Sunday reported an all- time single-day high of 294 new Covid-19 cases while two people died, taking the infection count to 6,152 and death toll to 84. Kurnool and East Godavari districts reported one death each on Sunday.

The officials of the medical and family welfare department said that a total of 15,633 samples in the state were tested in the last 24 hours and among them, 253 tested positive.

The officials said that another 39 people who returned to Andhra Pradesh from other states and two foreign returnees tested positive taking the cumulative total of fresh cases in the state to 294 on Wednesday.

As many as 131 patients, including 48 people who returned from other states and one foreign returnee, recovered from the virus and were discharged from hospitals in the state in the last 24 hours.

The total number of those who recovered from the Coronavirus in the state now stands at 3,316, including 570 people from other states and 23 foreign returnees.

The total number of active Covid-19 cases in the state stands at 2,752 (2,034 from Andhra Pradesh, 537 and 181 from other states and foreign returnees respectively).

On the Covid-19 toll front, Kurnool district has reported 29 Covid-19 deaths followed by Krishna district with 27 deaths and Guntur district 9 deaths.

While Anantapur and East Godavari districts reported 5 deaths each, four deaths each were reported from Nellore and Chittoor districts. Vizag district reported only one Covid-19 death.

So far, two districts -- Vizianagaram, Srikakulam in North Andhra, Prakasam and West Godavari district and Kadapa district haven’t reported any Covid-19 deaths.
