Hyderabad: The principal of an Andhra Pradesh tribal welfare residential school in K. V. Palle Piler, Chittoor district, was arrested on Tuesday for demanding a bribe of Rs 2 lakh from a contractor.

R. Khadar Vali supplied vegetables to the residential school. His bills amounting to Rs 5.15 lakh had been pending since August 2019. Taking advantage of the same the principal demanded kickbacks of Rs 1 lakh to pass the bills.

Acting upon a complaint filed by Mr Vali officials of the Anti-Corruption Bureau laid a trap and caught the principal red-handed. He was arrested by Tirupati ACB officials in his office chamber while accepting the bribe.
