AP's Vishnuvardhan Rao named Jharkhand's Director General of Police

APs Vishnuvardhan Rao named Jharkhands Director General of Police

Hyderabad: An IPS officer from Andhra Pradesh has been appointed the director general of police in Jharkhand.

M. Vishnuvardhan Rao belongs to the 1987 batch of Jharkhand cadre. He has also served at different positions in various other states. He commenced his duties as the DGP on 17 March and will continue in this post for the next 18 months.

Mr Rao is from Amudalalanka village under Challapalli Mandal in Andhra's Krishna district. He has a degree in mechanical engineering from REC College in Warangal.

Mr Rao's daughter, Deepika, is currently the special officer for the Disha Act and his son-in-law Vikranth Patil is the DCP of Vijayawada. His son Harshavardhan is currently the SP, ACB, in Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh. Having four IPS officers in the family is a proud feat, indeed.
