Army soldier arrested for second marriage

Hyderabad: Police arrested an Indian soldier on charges of cheating and bigamy. Surpam Rajesh got married to his relative a long time ago. However, he married another woman in Jawaharnagar, Hyderabad, hiding the fact that he is married.

Hailing from Adilabad district, Rajesh has been working as a soldier for the past 12 years. He has been posted in Jammu & Kashmir for more than a year. He also has a seven-year-old daughter from the first marriage.

Whenever he came home for vacation, he visited a close friend in Jawaharnagar. During these trips, he fell in love with the victim and married her a year ago. Without informing her about his first marriage, he started a family with her at a rented house in Jawaharnagar.

A month ago, he came home for vacation. After spending a few days in Adilabad, he came to Jawaharnagar. Meanwhile, his first wife traced him to Jawaharnagar and along with other family members took him away, leaving his second wife alone.

After the incident, his second wife learnt about Rajesh's first marriage and complained to the police. The police registered a case and arrested him on Friday.
