Asaduddin condemns JNU student Sharjeel Imam's statement on Assam

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi condemned the statement made by Sharjeel Imam, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) student on Assam.

Expressing his dissatisfaction over the comment made, the barrister said, "India is not a chicken's neck to be broken. If someone is making such statement, I don't' accept it. I condemn such rubbish." The MP was speaking during a Poets' protest held on the eve of the republic at Hyderabad.

Sharjeel Imam, one of the organisers of anti- Citizenship Amendment Act protest at Shaheen Bagh had earlier suggested cutting off Assam and northeast from India.

Imam has been booked on sedition charges.
