‘Aswathama’ gets highest pre-release business for Naga Shourya

Hyderabad: Naga Shourya is considered to be one of the most promising actors in Telugu cinema. Currently, the actor is pinning hopes on his upcoming film, ‘Aswathama’.

Its trailer, which was released by star director Puri Jagannadh, has already clocked over five million views on YouTube and has garnered appreciation from all quarters.

The latest news is that the pre-release business of the film has been finalised at Rs 15 crore, which is a career high for the actor. With a positive buzz generated for the pre-release business, the makers are also confident about the outcome of the film.

Naga Shourya, who is known for his boy-next-door looks and soft roles in films like ‘Chalo’ and ‘Oh Baby’ is trying to come out of the image with ‘Aswathama’ where he will be seen in some intense action sequences. The actor is also credited for the story of the film.

Going by the trailer, the film looks like a mysterious thriller where Naga Shourya was seen connecting dots to unravel missing cases of women and their deaths.

The film stars Mehreen Pirzada, Sargun Kaur and Posani Krishna Murali in important roles. Usha Mulupuri is bankrolling the project under Ira Creations and is directed by debutant Ramana Teja. Sricharan Pakala is composing the tunes, while Ghibran is providing the background score for the film.

The makers released the title-track Saturday evening.

With a good hype created among the trade circles and the general audience, Naga Shourya is hoping that ‘Aswathama’ will revive his fortunes and bring him back into reckoning. The film is slated to release on January 31.

On the career front, the actor will work with actor-director Avasarala Srinivas. The duo worked together in ‘Oohalu Gusagusalaade’ and ‘Jyo Achyuthananda’ which fared well at the box office.
