`Atmnirbhar Bharat’: RINL supplies 8500 MT of Vizag Steel for `Atal Tunnel’

Visakhapatnam: Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), Vizag, has supplied approximately 8,500 Metric Tonnes (MT) of Steel TMT bars for 'Atal Tunnel'.
The 9.02 km long tunnel connects Manali to Lahaul-Spiti valley, ensuring connectivity throughout the year. The valley was earlier cut off for about six months every year due to heavy snowfall. The tunnel reduces the road distance by 46 Kms between Manali and Leh and the time by about 4 to 5 hours.
Congratulating the RINL collective on this proud moment, Chairman and Managing Director PK Rath said the company joins the nation in thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi for this engineering marvel.
“Atal Tunnel, which is the longest highway tunnel at a height of more than 10000 feet, is another milestone in infrastucturing India by Prime Minister,” he said.
Rath noted that RINL supplied around 8500 Tonnes of TMT, which is the highest share amongst all the steel suppliers in the TMT section, for the construction of this engineering project.
“Earlier also, RINL has participated in all the projects of national importance. We assure the nation that RINL will be always at the helm of affairs to make India Atmnirbhar in its steel requirement,” he said
