Auto driver transporting school children in drunken condition, booked

Hyderabad: Despite repeated requests to not drive their vehicles in an inebriated condition, many motorists are taking them for granted. In a recent incident, an auto driver carrying school children was caught by traffic police in a drunken condition. The auto driver Mohd Zakir who recorded a BAC (Blood Alcohol Concentration) level of 164mg/100ml, which is beyond permissible level i.e., 30mg/100ml. While he tried to escape from the police, a biker identified as Said came to his rescue and misbehaved with the traffic police on duty.

Later a complaint was lodged against the auto driver and the biker and a case was registered against them for allegedly obstructing the duties of officials on duty.

On Tuesday morning, Falaknuma traffic police were conducting a special drive against autorickshaws carrying extra school children at Engine Bowli. They stopped one auto bearing the No. AP12V6624 carrying extra school children coming from Falaknuma and found that the auto driver was driving the vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

While trying to conduct a breath analysis test on the auto

driver, a biker came in his support and misbehaved with the Traffic Police and tried to release the auto driver from the traffic police. Even as they tried to explain, Asif allegedly misbehaved with them but was controlled by the onlookers.

Police detained the auto and the bike and lodged a case later.

Meanwhile, police appealed to the parents of school children to check the background of the auto drivers and also verify randomly if he is in a drunken condition while transporting children.
