Babri Masjid verdict: Did the mosque get demolished magically asks Owaisi

Hyderabad: "The Babri Masjid Demolition verdict satisfies the collective conscience of Hindutva ideology and it’s followers, said Hyderabad MP and AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi.

32 including senior BJP leaders L K Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi and Uma Bharti have been acquitted of conspiracy charges in the demolition of Babri Masjid in Ayodhya on December 6, 1992. The court observed that 'it was not planned and involved anti-social elements". The Investigating agency did not find enough evidence against the accused, also the authenticity of the Video and Audio could not be prove by the CBI.

Speaking to the media in Hyderabad on Wednesday, after the judgement was pronounced, he said: “Today’s judgement in my opinion is a sad day for the Indian judiciary. It is disheartening to know that mob violence will be protected. The entire country knows that the Kalyan Singh government in UP celebrated demolition of the Babri Masjid by distributing sweets and now, they are saying there was no conspiracy. Enlighten me on how many days and months is required to disqualify an action for being spontaneous,” said Owaisi.

“ "Did the mosque get demolished magically ? The Supreme Court even said that the demolition was 'an egregious violation of the rule of law' Did someone magically install idols on the night of December 28 and 29?, he asks.

The MP made a request that CBI should appeal against the trench judgement to protect its independence. "I will request to the AIMPLB to appeal against the obnoxious judgement acquitting the people who led the Rath Yatra and raised the Ramjanmabhumi movement. It appears as though people unleashing violence will be rewarded. Ultimately, the judgement seems to be telling people that you can violate laws and you will be rewarded for it,” he said.

“When Advani was conferred the highest civilian award, I knew this will happen. As an Indian Muslim, I ask how had Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi become famous. Advani served as the Union home minister while Manohar Joshi became the HRD minister and Uma Bharti became the in-charge leader for cleaning River Ganga.

“Since 1950, being a Muslim in Inida, I have not got the justice in any matter,” he lamented.

He said, “The CBI chargesheet says that Advani hatched a conspiracy on December 5 in Vinay Katiyar’s house. Had not Advani asked Kalyan Singh not to resign till the Masjid was demolished?. Last year, the Supreme Court said the demolition was calculated act of destroying democracy. Are these not fact,” he asked.

“Even while going inside the court, one Bhagwan Goel, who was in the Shiv Sena then and now, switched loyalties to the BJP, said that “I demolished the Masjid”, Owaisi reminded.

“As a proud Indian Muslim, at that time, I felt I was helpless and the same feeling is resurfacing now,” he said. “People who led the demolition are going scot free,” he asserted. He also said that those who demolished Babri Masjid should have been convicted.
