Balasubrahmanyam's last song for people of Palasa

Visakhapatnam: As the nation grieves the death of legendary playback singer S.P Balasubrahmanyam who passed away on 25 September, the people of Palasa are left with bittersweet memories of the singer. Balu's last song, “O Sogasari”, was for the movie 'Palasa 1978'.

The movie, based on caste politics in a small town Palasa in Srikakulam district, was released on 6 March 2020. Local people of Palasa proudly claimed that Balu began his career on the other end of Andhra Pradesh and ended it on the other side.

Meanwhile, people from all walks of life recalled their interaction with the famous singer who has performed in the city several times since the beginning of his career. Balu gave several memorable performances here, like his live show at the Satyam musical night which was compeered by N.T Rama Rao at the Andhra University convocation hall in 1978 and the Padalani Vundi in Visakhapatnam Steel Plant in 2006.

The director of 'Palasa', Raghu Kunche, said, “I don't know if it was fortune or misfortune that 'O Sagasari' was the last song Balu sang.”
