New Delhi: Veteran Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan is set to receive another prestigious award after the government unanimously selected his name for the Dadasaheb Phalke award.

On Tuesday, Union Minister Prakash Javedekar tweeted, “The legend Amitabh Bachchan who entertained and inspired for two generations has been selected unanimously for #DadaSahebPhalke award. The entire country and the international community is happy. My heartiest congratulations to him. @narendramodi @SrBachchan (sic).”

Showering praise and terming Amitabh as a legend of Indian cinema, filmmaker Karan Johar tweeted, “The most inspiring legend of Indian cinema! He is a bonafide rockstar! I am honoured and proud to be in the era of Amitabh Bachchan. The prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award to Amitabh Bachchan! (sic)”

Just after the news was out, several fans of Bollywood’s Shehensha sent their best wishes and congratulatory messages to him. Apart from them, Anil Kapoor and Nagarjuna also congratulated the veteran actor.

“There is no mention of Indian cinema without this legend! He has redefined cinema with every role & deserves every accolade for his innumerable contributions! Congratulations @SrBachchan! #DadaSahebPhalkeAward,” read Anil Kapoor’s tweet.

Bhartendhu Sharma
