Birthday party turns 25 residents of Madannapet apartment Covid-19 positive

Hyderabad: Notwithstanding cautions over social distancing and wearing of masks, a family at Santosh Nagar area in Madannapet organised a birthday party a few days ago. Now, the whole apartment with 15 residential units has been cordoned off as containment zone.
As many as 25 people who took part in the party held in the apartment have been tested positive for Covid-19. Fifty six others who stay in the apartment are under home quarantine.
Meanwhile, according to the GHMC, six people among the 25 who are tested positive for Covid-19 are members of the same family in RR Meadows Apartment .
Those infected include a 63-year-old man, his wife, 62, their son, 37, his wife, 34 and their 8 and 4-year-old sons. A nine month old baby and a pregnant women are also among the tested 25 patients.
“The apartment has been declared containment from May 15 night. A health screening has been initiated in the area,” said Madannapet SHO, D. Santhosh Kumar.
On May 10, a person living in the second floor of the same apartment also tested positive.
Two days after that, on May 13, a software employee in the same apartment also tested positive. His wife and daughter, along with 11 others, were moved to the quarantine and six of their samples tested positive.
