Blood banks in AP raided, issued notices for violation

Vijayawada: In a severe case of health law violation, the Drug Control Administration (DCA) officials revealed multiple hospitals have been indulging in illegal blood trade practices. The DCA conducted surprise raids at the 43 blood banks, including 13 government blood banks in various parts of Andhra Pradesh on Thursday (January 23) for allegedly violating the norms and indulging in blood sale.

The DCA officials have discoverer various irregularities during the raids. They found that some blood banks conducted blood donation camps without obtaining permission from the DCA.

The officials said that the blood donation camps can be organized only by AP Blood Transfusion Council or the Indian Red Cross Society.

The DCA issued show cause notices to some blood banks. They also intend to initiate legal action against the blood banks, which violated the norms.

The DCA officials have also found out that some blood banks have charged more money from the people for providing the life saving liquid.
