Brave FRO Anita, beaten up by TRS MLAs kin, gets Gold Medal

The Telangana government has announced the name of Chole Anita, Kaghaznagar Forest Range Officer (FRO) for the K.V.S Babu IFS Memorial Gold Medal Award.

Chole Anita will be honoured with this award on August 15 in Hyderabad during the 73rd Independence Day celebrations. The award includes a cash prize of Rs 15,000.

Kaghaznagar Forest Divisional Officer (FDO) M. Raja Ramana Reddy told Newsmeter “FRO Chole Anita is selected for the K.V.S Babu IFS Memorial Gold Medal Award for her courage and resilience. Anita deserves this award. On June 30, when a mob attacked our officers Anita did not escape from the place but stood her ground. For that, she deserves this honour.”

It was Mr Raman Reddy who recommended Anita’s name from the Kaghaznagar range for the K.V.S Babu IFS Memorial Gold Medal Award for this year.

On June 30, Anita was attacked and beaten up with bamboo sticks by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) MLA Koneru Konappa’s brother Koneru Krishna Rao and the villagers when she was on duty for a plantation programme in the village. The incident had taken place in Telangana’s Komaram Bheem district, Salasar village. After the incident, Krishna Rao resigned as Zilla Parishad vice-chairman.
