Burglar arrested in KPHB, valuables worth Rs 16.7L recovered

Hyderabad: The Cyberabad police apprehended a burglar, Avula Kiran Kumar, and recovered 30 tola gold ornaments, 829 gm of silver items, all worth Rs 16,70,000. Earlier, he was detained for as many as 10 property offences in the Cyberabad, Hyderabad Commissionerate limits.

According to the police, Kiran Kumar, 31, a resident of LB Nagar and a native of Mahabubnagar district, is an active burglar and was involved in 90 house-breaking offences in Cyberabad, Hyderabad, Rachakonda Commissionerates and Khammam district in Telangana and Vijayawada, Guntur, Rajahmundry in Andhra Pradesh.

“Earlier he was arrested by the Khammam police in April and during interrogation, he has confessed to committing 21 property offences in the limits of Kukatpally Housing Board Society(KPHB), Miyapur and Kukatpally and the stolen gold and silver ornaments were disposed through one M. Srinivasulu, who took the help of his contacts in jewellery shops,” the police said.

According to the police, he used to conduct recce of locked houses, apartments and execute offences depending on his convenience by breaking the lock with the help of an iron rod.

In the wee hours of September 7, the detective inspector, KPHB, along with the crime staff, were on night patrolling duty when they noticed a person, carrying a rod, moving in a suspicious manner and apprehended him at Addagutta Society, KPHB Colony.
