CAB protests spread to MANUU in Hyderabad, Students erupt in anger against Jamia Millia incident

Hyderabad: Protests against Citizenship Amendment Act has spread to Maulana Azad National Urdu University in Hyderabad. On Sunday night MANUU students protested in support of Jamia Millia incident in Delhi.

Students raised slogans against Delhi police alleging violent action injuring the Jamia Millia students who were protesting against CAB (CAA).

MANUU students' union president, Umar Farooq has said that students have unanimously decided to boycott the exams. MANUU students continued the protests till the last reports came in.

"We have originally planned a protest on Monday however due to seriousness of Jamia Millia incident we have done flash protest in the night," said a student leader.

Students at Manuu raised slogans 'Murdabad Narendra Modi' , "Muradabad Amit Shah'. Effigies of BJP leaders were burnt at MANUU on Sunday night during the CAB protest. Students raised Azadi slogans. Students carried the Indian national flags during the protests. Though MANUU students have been protesting for the past few days against the CAA on Sunday midnight the crowds started swelling from midnight. Telangana police rushed to the spot to prevent any untoward incident during the MANUU CAB protests.

MANUU students demands controller to postpone exams

The protesting students of Maulana Azad National Urdu University who boycotted the exams on Monday demanded the Controller of examination of MANUU to postpone the exams. MANUU students staged a massive protest on Sunday night in support of the Jamia Millia Islamia University of New Delhi. Delhi police caned students of Jamia Millia students who were protesting against Citizenship Amendment Act.

MANUU Students' Union 2019-20 vice president Intekhab Alam in a letter to the Controller of examination said, "Several exams are scheduled to be held on Monday on December 16. But due to the protest by MANUU students against Delhi police regarding the attack on JMI and AMU students, we are boycotting the exam. We request the university to postpone the exam. We shall attend the exam on any other day as decided by the university.'

MP Owaisi express solidarity with Jamia Millia

Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi tweeted against police action on Jamia Millia students. Owaisi said ,"I am expressing my solidary with the students of Jamia Milia .Delhi Police should release all the students in police custody and tell us the number of students injured due to police brutality. An independent judicial inquiry should be set up to investigate into the incident,"

MANUU cab protests are likely to spread to the University of Hyderabad too on Monday. On Sunday a huge protest was staged at Dharna Chowk in Indira Park against CAA.
