Car catches fire, five burned alive, 1 escapes

Amaravati: Five members of a family were killed and one managed to escape when the SUV in which they were travelling caught fire on Saturday morning.

The victims include three children and two women.

According to police reports, the family of six who hail from Thirupathi were travelling from Bangalore to Palamaner in Andhra Pradesh.

The driver Vishnu, who survived with burns, lost control of the speeding car, which fell into a 10 feet pit and burst into flames. Five of the family were burnt to death before the fire force could arrive at the spot. Police rushed Vishnu to the hospital where his condition is said to be critical.

According to the police, the deceased is Vishnu’s wife, son, daughter, sister, and nephew.
