Case against DMart after student suspiciously dies in front of store in Vanasthalipuram

Hyderabad: Police have registered a case against DMart after the suspicious death of a student, Lavudya Satish, outside the store at Vanasthalipuram in Hyderabad. The police have also registered a case against Satish's college.

Satish, a student of Sri Chaitanya Junior College, Hayathnagar, came to the store with some friends on the night of 16 February and allegedly stole some chocolates. The store staff noticed this and questioned him, but he collapsed and died during the interrogation. While it was rumoured that he died after the security staff assaulted him, inquiries revealed that Satish was only questioned by the staff about the theft.

After the incident, DMart released footage showing Satish taking some products from the store. His friends also told police that the staff had only questioned him. As soon as the news spread, members of the Lambadi organisations staged a protest outside the store and damaged furniture. They demanded strict action against the staff and also compensation to the family. Meanwhile, Satish's parents said the college management did not inform them that their son had left the campus. Satish is from Suryapet district and his parents are daily labourers.
