CBSE hikes exam fees after 5 years, increases it from Rs 750 to Rs 1500

Hyderabad: Central Board of Secondary Education after a gap of five years has increased exam fee for class 10 and class 12. For all students, the fee was Rs 750 at the rate of Rs 150 per subject and it has now been increased to Rs 1500 at the rate of Rs 300 per subject.

CBSE board in a statement clarified that the increase in exam fee applies to all States across India and not especially for Delhi. CBSE affiliated schools have already started collecting the increased fee and those students who already paid were asked to pay the difference.

“The board had not increased the fee in the last five years. The fee has been increased for all categories of students in all affiliated schools in CBSE in India by a resolution of the governing body of the board. CBSE is a self-finance body and the board works on no profit and no loss basis, “ said CBSE in the statement. CBSE 10th class has five core subjects.

Visually impaired has been exempted from the fees and the exemption will continue.

Delhi has a special arrangement where the fee earlier was Rs 350 for SC-ST students of Delhi. Out of Rs 350 the students used to pay Rs 50 and Rs 300 is being reimbursed by the Delhi government. The general category student of Delhi was earlier paying Rs 750 like the rest of India and will now pay Rs 1500.

CBSE said its fee structure is far less than the National Institution of Open Schooling NIOS.
