CBSE starts toll-free helpline to create Coronavirus awareness among students

Hyderabad: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to start a helpline for students to create awareness on the coronavirus pandemic. The board has come up with the new helpline number in addition to the 23rd edition of CBSE Annual Pre Exam Psychological live tele-counselling for students appearing for X/XII Exam in 2020, which is currently being conducted from 8 AM to 10 PM.

The helpline facility is available on the same toll-free number 1800 11 8004 from 8 AM to 8 PM initially up to March 31, 2020. The board has also played a proactive role in creating mass awareness in public by way of memes on social media platforms, issuing guidelines to students, parents and schools for creating awareness about Corona Virus and its prevention. The board has also created awareness about changing seating arrangements in exam halls to avoid the spread of the virus.

CBSE has re-scheduled the remaining Class X/XII 2020 exams scheduled between March 19 and March 31, 2020 and has also suspended evaluation work as a precautionary measure. The dedicated coronavirus safeguard tele-counselling service will be provided by additional trained Counsellors. The counsellors will deal with students and parents for preventive interventions, reducing transmission and counsel them on First Aid to stop Corona spread. They will also assist students in engaging in productive activities while at home.
