Cheating case against Rangareddy BJP leader, husband

Hyderabad: A case was registered against BJP Mahila Morcha president of Rangareddy district Komireddy Uma Maheshwari Reddy and her husband Komireddy Kondal Reddy for allegedly cheating the BJP Yuva Morcha state secretary Bokka Bal Reddy under the pretext of appointing him the secretary of the Sports Authority of India. The couple also collected Rs. 6 lakh from Mr Bal Reddy and tried to harrass him by registering a cheque bounce case against him.

According to the police, in February 2016 the BJP leader and her husband forced Mr Bal Reddy to apply for the post of the secretary. But later, they informed him that he had to pay Rs. 38 lakhs to which Mr Bal Reddy said he would accept the job only if it was given based on his work for the party.

The couple later told him that they had already paid Rs. 6 lakh to people who handled the appointments and convinced him that the appointment orders will be issued soon. Believing them Mr Bal Reddy paid Rs. 6 lakh. However, when they demanded that he pay more money, he refused and asked them to return his money. When they delayed, he asked them the details of the person who was paid Rs. 6 lakh but the couple avoided him. Further, when he put pressure on them they used a blank cheque that he had given them earlier to file a cheque bounce case against him.

Unable to get his money back and face their harassment, he approached the police. A case has been registered at the Rajendranagar police station. An investigation is underway.
