Chittoor Woman gang-raped near a forest

Chittoor: A 28-year-old married woman was allegedly kidnapped and raped by three men Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh. Though the incident took place on Sunday night, it came to light late on Tuesday only after the survivor lodged a complaint against the youngsters.

The police said that the woman was busy with farming work in her field when the trio, identified as U Mahesh and his friends Siva and Vijay, went near the area on a bike. Finding her alone, Mahesh approached the complainant and told her that her aunt had died.

Police sources said Mahesh offered to take the grieving woman to her home. However, he took a turn at an isolated near Boyakonda forest under Nimmanapalle Mandal and raped her. Later, his two friends reached the spot and took turns to rape the woman. The trio fled from the scene.

The survivor had to spend the entire night in the forest. She managed to reach home after daybreak and narrated the assault to her family members, who then approached the police, said sources.

Based on the complaint from the woman, the sub-inspector of Nimmanapalle, led by Sub-Inspector S Devi, registered a case against the three, who belong to the same village as the complainant.

The police said they have formed a special team and launched a manhunt for the accused. The alleged rapists consumed alcohol before committing the crime, said the police.

The survivor has been admitted to a government hospital for medical examination. Meanwhile, the residents of her village have demanded strict action against the trio.
