AP CM launches NIGHA app to ensure fair polls

Visakhapatnam: The Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has launched ‘NIGHA’ app, at CM's camp office in Tadepalli, on Saturday to ensure ‘clean and healthy’ elections by curbing the use of money and alcohol in the upcoming local body elections.

Panchayat Raj Department, in a bid to crack down on electoral malpractices, had set up the NIGHA app to empower common citizens to lodge complaints seamlessly. Anyone can download the NIGHA app in their smart phones. Photos and videos of distribution of money and alcohol and any other activity that violates Model Code of Conduct can be registered by this app.

All the complaints registered by this app will automatically be routed to the Central Control room and the information will be shared with the concerned officials. The concerned officials will take stringent action against the people responsible for the crime. The app is designed in addition to the measures taken up by State Election Commission and Police Department to curb malpractices in the local body elections.

Special Secretary to Chief Minister PV Ramesh, Panchayat Raj Principal Secretary Gopal Krishna Dwivedi, Commissioner Girija Shankar were among those who were present on the occasion.
