CMRS inspects JBS-MGBS metro corridor, issues safety certificate

Hyderabad: The Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS), JK Garg inspected the JBS-MGBS metro corridor II. He, along with the Managing Director of Hyderabad Metro Rail, NVS Reddy, independent engineers from Louis Bergerand other senior engineers and technical experts of L&T and HMRL over the past three days and issued the mandatory safety certificate on Sunday (January 12).

The Commissioner issued the safety certificate of the 25kV overhead electrical traction and other electrical installations by CEIG ( Chief Electrical Inspector General), Fire clearance of the nine stations of the corridor by DG, Fire services, Signalling and train control systems by Thales, Canada, Internal safety assessment by Halcrow, UK and other technical parameters during trial runs.

The CMRS inspected the corridor and broadly covered things like all the safety tests related to viaduct, track, signalling, telecom, trains and electric traction system. He also covered speed trials at high speed to check the behaviour of the train.

He checked the station structures, lifts, escalators, entry/exit points, ticketing systems, control rooms and passenger amenities.

The inspection also included checking of Bhoiguda metro ROB ( Road over Bridge), bearings, viaduct, track parameters and OHE ( Overhead equipment) parameters, Oscillograph tests to measure train acceleration values, ride quality and ride index.

People including the MD, L&T, KVB Reddy, Chief operating officer AK Saini, Project Director, MP Naidu, Louis Berger team leader Mr Krishna Swamy and other senior engineers participated in the inspections and deliberations.

The safety certificate issued by CMRS cleared the way for passenger services on the last corridor lc Hyderabad Metro rail project Phase-1.

The corridor with a length of 11kms has 9 stations namely JBS-Parade grounds, Secunderabad west, Gandhi Hospital, Musheerabad, RTC x roads, Chikkadpally, Narayanguda, Sultan Bazar and MGBS.

Post the safety certification by JK Garg, the date of inauguration of the services is yet to be decided
