Congress leader, techie caught in prostitution racket in Vanasthalipuram

Hyderabad: Congress leader Anthireddy Anil Reddy, who is also the vice-chairperson of Bolarum Municipality in Sangareddy district and Konda Dikshith, a techie working with TCS Hyderabad, were caught red-handed by police at Vanasthalipuram, for dealing with a prostitution racket.

The police further found that their friend Raghavendra Reddy, who owns hotels, was running the racket.

According to the police, Raghavendra Reddy began running the prostitution racket at home after the COVID-19 lockdown hit his hotel business. However, his wife alerted the police and not only exposed his illegal business, but also helped rescue three women, who were trapped by him for flesh trade.

While Anil Reddy and Dikshith were arrested, Raghavendra fled from his home. Police revealed that he managed to run the racket from his home itself, in the presence of his wife and two children aged below ten.

The police investigation also found that Raghavendra was married ten years ago. Since then, he was allegedly harassing his wife physically and mentally. He also had physical relationships with other women. Unable to bear this harassment, her wife had informed her parents and elders from both families, following which he was given counselling. They also warned him to stay away from women and also not to harass his wife anymore.

However, the harassment continued, due to which his wife went to her parents along with the children. She returned to her husband a few days after the lockdown came into force. Soon, she found out that other women were visiting their house. Initially, Raghavendra gave some excuses about their visit, but later found that he was running sex racket from their home itself. She pleaded to him to stop it as it would affect the children, but he ignored her and continued to procure women from different places to his home and also calling men and facilitating them at their home only.

As his wife raised objections, he assaulted her and threatened her to keep quiet. However, she gathered courage and approached Vanasthalipuram police on Saturday and tipped them about the sex racket being carried out from their home. Accordingly, police raided their home and caught Anil Reddy and Dikshith red handed, when they were with the victims.

Inquiries revealed that Anil Reddy had come to Vanasthalipuram all the way from Bolarum. He not only indulged in illegal sexual activity, but also violated the mandatory three km norm of the lockdown, while Dikshith was a resident of LB nagar. Police found that they are all childhood friends and were regular customers at Raghavendra’s hotels for illegal sexual activities.
