Cops register case against man for raping minor daughter

Visakhapatnam: Police registered a case against a 35-year-old man for allegedly raping his 14-year-old daughter on Sunday.

The incident took place in a tribal hamlet under Kitumula panchayat under the Chintapalli police station limits in Visakhapatnam district. The crime was exposed by the man’s wife, who caught him red-handed in the act a few days ago. The woman along with her daughter lodged a complaint with the police on Saturday night.

The girl told the cops that her father had forced himself on her. She also alleged that he had been physically abusing her for the past two years.

The girl a Class VIII student at a government residential school is the eldest of the three children (two daughters and a son).The accused man was addicted to liquor and used to pick fights with her wife. Unable to bear the harassments, his wife left and went to her parents’ house a couple of years back. It was only recently that she returned to her husband’s house.

When his wife was away, the accused used to every weekend take his elder daughter to his home from school and rape her. On September 1, as usual, the accused brought the elder daughter from the school to his home.

On September 3, the girl’s mother along with her other two children went to a farm and returned home in the evening. On returning the wife found her husband in a compromising position with her elder daughter. The girl later told her mother how the father has been abusing her on the weekends and holidays for the past few years.

Assistant superintendent of police Chintapalli, S. Satish Kumar said, “We have received a complaint from a woman and her daughter citing that her husband has been raping the daughter for the past two years. Out of fear, the girl did not reveal it all these years. But, the mother caught the man red-handed and informed the police. We have registered cases against the man under Section 354 and 376 of IPC and various Sections of Posco Act and investigation is on to nab the accused.”

The girl was sent to the KG Hospital in Vizag city for medical examination.
