CoronaVirus cases touch 111 in AP, majority are Tablighi Jamaat participants

Vijayawada, April 1: As many as 24 new cases of Coronavirus have been reported in Andhra Pradesh in a span of 12 hours , taking the overall tally to 111 on April 1st. The latest bulletin issued by the AP government said, a majority of those tested positive for COVID-19 are participants of Tablighi Jamaat congregation.

According to the officials of Medical and Family Welfare department, 20 positive cases are from Guntur followed by Kadapa, Krishna and Prakasam districts with 15 positive cases, West Godavari 14 cases, Visakhapatnam 11 cases, East Godavari 9 cases, Chittoor 6 cases, Nellore 3 cases, Anatapur 2 cases, Kurnool 1 cases.

It is to note, few hours ago the total number of cases were 87 and 12 hours later is spiked to 111.

Earlier in the Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, said, 'Over 1085 people from AP attended Tablighi Jamaat meeting in Delhi , efforts are on to trace them. Samples of 585 are awaited .

The Chief Minister, appealed to the people to volunteer and dial 104 if there develop symptoms. "No stigma should be attached to CoronaVirus cases. Medical help will come home test and give advise accordingly, he said.

Chief Minister’s asked people to report problems with the ANMs, Asha workers, volunteers who are surveying every household across the state. He assured that they would be provided them with treatment and other necessary they will be taken to the hospital.
